The Boston 100K ArtScience Prize

How to catalyze a renaissance generation among Boston’s public high school students by helping them develop the intellectual tools for cross-disciplinary learning and creative thought.

Carrie Fitzsimmons is the International Director for Strategy at Laboratoire Management International.  Before recently joining LMI, she was the Director of Administration, Planning and Stewardship at the Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston.  She managed the Director’s Office, Trustee and Board relations, Visitor Services, Human Resources and Information Technology Departments.  She worked closely with the Director and other senior managers at the museum to focus on the strategic and operational issues facing the ICA. In December 2006, the new ICA opened on Boston’s harbor to local, national, and international acclaim.  Fitzsimmons played an integral role in the transformation of the ICA.   Before joining the ICA, Fitzsimmons worked at the Cambridge Arts Council, a municipal cultural council in Massachusetts; New Profit, Inc, a national venture philanthropy fund designed to provide the necessary resources for social entrepreneurs to achieve their visions; and the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in Richmond, Virginia.  Fitzsimmons received her Bachelor of Arts from Randolph-Macon Woman’s College with a double major in art and economics.
