Pop Up DesignerWhat can we learn about design by encountering exhibits in unexpected places?
Design is completely ubiquitous: buildings, products, signage, websites, and services are all designed. Design Museum Boston is a new type of museum creating exhibitions, events, and programs that show the who, why, and how behind the places and things we see and use everyday. What makes Design Museum Boston unique is our approach. Because design is everywhere, so are we. We put exhibitions in places where people already go, turning the museum inside out and transforming the city into the museum. This approach creates great chances for public education and opportunities to use design to improve the museum and therefore the city itself.
Sam Aquillano is the Executive Director of Design Museum Boston. With a passion for design, creativity, and learning, Sam creates a long-term vision for the museum. He leads a dedicated team while managing key programs and day-to-day operations. Sam is also an adjunct professor of design and entrepreneurship at Babson College, where he teaches the design process to the next generation of business leaders. Sam is an MBA candidate at Babson College and a member of the Massachusetts Creative Economy Council. He loves to run, cook, and eat (usually in that order).
